Paneer cubes in a rich, creamy tomato-based gravy with butter and cream. The vegetarian counterpart to butter chicken, this dish is the most ordered vegetarian item in Indian restaurants worldwide.

Ingredients

  • paneer (250g)
  • tomatoes (5-6)
  • butter
  • cream
  • onions
  • cashew nuts
  • ginger-garlic paste
  • kasuri methi
  • red chili powder
  • garam masala
  • sugar
  • salt

Instructions

  1. 1 Sauté onions in butter until soft. Add ginger-garlic paste and tomatoes. Cook until very soft.
  2. 2 Blend into a smooth puree with soaked cashews. Strain for silky texture.
  3. 3 Heat butter, add the tomato-cashew puree. Cook until oil separates.
  4. 4 Add spice powders, sugar, salt, and cream. Simmer for 10 minutes.
  5. 5 Add paneer cubes and kasuri methi. Simmer gently for 5 minutes. Finish with cream and butter.
