A refreshing Tajik salad of torn flatbread soaked in tangy dissolved kurt (dried yogurt balls), layered with fresh tomatoes, onions, and herbs.

Ingredients

  • 4 pieces fatir (Tajik flatbread)
  • 200g kurt (dried yogurt balls)
  • 3 ripe tomatoes, sliced
  • 2 cucumbers, sliced
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • Fresh cilantro and basil
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • Salt to taste
  • 500ml warm water

Instructions

  1. 1 Dissolve kurt in warm water until smooth and creamy.
  2. 2 Tear flatbread into large pieces and arrange on a platter.
  3. 3 Pour the dissolved kurt over the bread, letting it soak.
  4. 4 Layer sliced tomatoes, cucumbers, and onions on top.
  5. 5 Drizzle with oil, garnish with fresh herbs. Serve immediately.
