A sweet, aromatic Surinamese drink made from almond extract syrup mixed with cold water, traditionally tinted pink and served at celebrations.

Ingredients

  • 200ml orgeade syrup (almond-flavored)
  • 1.5 liters cold water
  • Pink food coloring (optional)
  • Crushed ice
  • Sugar to taste

Instructions

  1. 1 Pour orgeade syrup into a large pitcher. Add cold water and stir until well combined.
  2. 2 Add a drop of pink food coloring if desired for the traditional rosy hue. Taste and add sugar if needed.
  3. 3 Fill tall glasses with crushed ice. Pour the orgeade over the ice and serve immediately.
