The Story Behind G'njen Foroe

Ginger beer is a beloved tradition across the Caribbean and Surinamese diaspora, with roots in both West African and British colonial ginger brewing traditions. In Suriname, the drink developed its own character with the addition of local lime and warming spices. It became the standard non-alcoholic celebration drink, prepared in large batches for birthdays, holidays, and community events.
