Ingredients

  • 250g buckwheat groats
  • 500ml water
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • Warm milk for serving
  • Honey to taste
  • 50g walnuts, lightly toasted and chopped
  • Cinnamon (optional)

Instructions

  1. 1 Rinse buckwheat groats and toast in a dry saucepan for 2-3 min until fragrant and slightly darkened.
  2. 2 Add water and salt, bring to a boil, then reduce to low heat.
  3. 3 Cover and simmer for 15 min until all water is absorbed and groats are tender.
  4. 4 Stir in butter, fluff with a fork.
  5. 5 Serve in bowls, pour warm milk around the edges, drizzle with honey.
  6. 6 Top with toasted walnuts and a pinch of cinnamon if desired.
