Thick slices of Edam or Gouda cheese coated in flour, egg, and breadcrumbs, deep-fried to a molten-centered golden perfection. Slovakia's favorite fast food.
Ingredients
4 thick slices Edam cheese (1.5cm)
100g all-purpose flour
2 eggs, beaten
150g fine breadcrumbs
Salt
Vegetable oil for frying
Tartar sauce
French fries
Instructions
1Pat cheese slices dry. Set up breading station: flour, beaten eggs, breadcrumbs.
2Coat each slice in flour, dip in egg, then press into breadcrumbs. Double-bread for extra crunch.
3Heat oil to 175°C (350°F).
4Fry cheese 2-3 minutes until golden brown, turning once.
5Drain on a wire rack. Serve immediately while cheese is still molten.
6Accompany with tartar sauce, fries, and a cold beer.
