Poppy Seed Noodles

Soft, pillowy potato noodles rolled in ground poppy seeds, sugar, and melted butter. A beloved Slovak sweet main course or dessert.

Ingredients

  • 500g potatoes, boiled and riced
  • 200g all-purpose flour
  • 1 egg
  • Salt
  • 100g ground poppy seeds
  • 60g powdered sugar
  • 60g melted butter

Instructions

  1. 1 Rice potatoes while warm. Mix with flour, egg, and salt into a smooth dough.
  2. 2 Roll dough into long ropes about 2cm thick. Cut into 3cm pieces.
  3. 3 Boil in salted water until they float, about 3-4 minutes.
  4. 4 Drain well.
  5. 5 Mix ground poppy seeds with powdered sugar.
  6. 6 Toss noodles in melted butter, then roll in the poppy seed-sugar mixture. Serve warm.
