Cabbage Dumplings

Soft potato dumplings tossed with tangy sauerkraut and topped with crispy fried onions. A rustic mountain dish and close relative of halusky.

Ingredients

  • 500g potatoes, grated
  • 300g flour
  • 400g sauerkraut, drained
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 3 tbsp vegetable oil
  • Salt
  • Sour cream for serving

Instructions

  1. 1 Mix grated potatoes with flour and salt into a sticky dough.
  2. 2 Drop small pieces into boiling salted water.
  3. 3 Cook until dumplings float, about 5 minutes. Drain.
  4. 4 Fry onion slices in oil until deeply golden and crispy.
  5. 5 Toss drained dumplings with sauerkraut.
  6. 6 Top with crispy onions and serve with sour cream.
