Dissolve yeast in warm milk with a pinch of sugar. Let foam.

Mix flour, egg yolks, sugar, melted butter, salt, and yeast mixture. Knead into soft dough.

Let rise 1 hour. Punch down, form into small walnut-sized balls.

Place balls snugly in a buttered baking pan. Let rise 20 min.

Bake at 180°C (356°F) for 18-20 min until golden.

Make custard: whisk yolks, sugar, cornstarch; heat milk with vanilla, temper into yolk mix, cook until thick. Serve buns in warm custard.
