Sweet Fried Banana Beignets

Ripe bananas mashed into a spiced batter and deep-fried until crispy and golden. A beloved snack celebrating the island's banana heritage.

Ingredients

  • 4 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 150g all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Oil for deep frying
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. 1 Mash bananas in a bowl until smooth.
  2. 2 Add flour, sugar, egg, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla, and salt. Mix into a thick batter.
  3. 3 Heat oil to 175C.
  4. 4 Drop spoonfuls of batter into hot oil.
  5. 5 Fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  6. 6 Drain on paper towels.
  7. 7 Serve warm, dusted with powdered sugar.
