A refreshing salad of thinly sliced cucumbers dressed in tangy sour cream with fresh dill — the classic Polish side dish served alongside nearly every meal.

Ingredients

  • 2 large cucumbers
  • 200ml sour cream
  • 2 tbsp fresh dill, chopped
  • 1 tbsp white vinegar or lemon juice
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • Salt and white pepper

Instructions

  1. 1 Peel cucumbers if desired. Slice paper-thin using a mandoline or sharp knife.
  2. 2 Sprinkle cucumber slices with salt, let rest 10 min, then squeeze out excess water.
  3. 3 Mix sour cream with vinegar, sugar, salt, and white pepper.
  4. 4 Toss cucumbers with the sour cream dressing.
  5. 5 Garnish generously with fresh dill. Serve chilled.
