Bring a pot of water to a gentle boil. Slide in the whole block of tofu and warm for 5 minutes.

Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over high heat. Add kimchi and stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until slightly caramelized.

Add sugar and gochugaru to the kimchi, toss for 1 more minute. Finish with sesame oil.

Remove tofu from water, slice into 1cm-thick pieces. Arrange on one side of a plate.
