Smoky, spice-rubbed lamb or beef skewers grilled over charcoal at roadside stands, basted with oil and dusted with fiery yaji spice.

Ingredients

  • 500g lamb or beef, cubed
  • 2 tbsp yaji spice (ground peanuts, ginger, chili, cloves)
  • 1 onion, cut into chunks
  • 2 bell peppers, cubed
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • Salt to taste
  • Lemon wedges for serving

Instructions

  1. 1 Thread meat, onion chunks, and bell pepper onto metal skewers alternately.
  2. 2 Brush with oil and season generously with salt.
  3. 3 Grill over hot charcoal, turning every 3 minutes, for 12-15 minutes total.
  4. 4 Baste with oil during grilling to keep meat moist.
  5. 5 Dust liberally with yaji spice while still hot.
  6. 6 Serve immediately with lemon wedges and extra yaji on the side.
