Kava Root Drink

Ground kava root mixed with water and strained. A mildly sedative traditional ceremonial drink.

Ingredients

  • 200g fresh kava root
  • 2 cups water
  • Straining cloth
  • Coconut shell cups
  • Extra water for dilution
  • 1 tsp coconut milk (optional)
  • Fresh kava leaves
  • Clean water for rinsing

Instructions

  1. 1 Pound or grind fresh kava root.
  2. 2 Place ground root in straining cloth.
  3. 3 Add water and knead to extract liquid.
  4. 4 Strain thoroughly, squeezing out all liquid.
  5. 5 Dilute to desired strength.
  6. 6 Serve in coconut shell cups.
