Whole reef fish seasoned with lime and salt, fried until golden and crispy. A Nauruan staple.

Ingredients

  • 1 whole reef fish (500g), cleaned
  • 2 limes, juiced
  • Salt and pepper
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp turmeric

Instructions

  1. 1 Score fish on both sides and rub with lime, salt, and turmeric.
  2. 2 Let marinate 10 minutes.
  3. 3 Dust lightly with flour.
  4. 4 Heat oil in a deep skillet.
  5. 5 Fry fish 5 minutes per side until golden.
  6. 6 Serve with sliced onion and lime wedges.
