The Story Behind Fougasse Monegasque
Fougasse Monegasque is the principality's signature festive bread, dating to the 18th century. Unlike the savory Provencal fougasse, Monaco's version is a sweet celebration bread scented with orange blossom water, reflecting the Mediterranean citrus groves that once dotted the region. It is inseparable from Monegasque Christmas traditions.
