Fried Breadfruit Slices

Thinly sliced breadfruit fried until crispy and salted. A popular island snack.

Ingredients

  • 1 firm breadfruit, peeled and cored
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp chili flakes
  • Lime juice
  • Paper towels for draining
  • 1 tsp sugar

Instructions

  1. 1 Peel breadfruit and slice very thinly.
  2. 2 Heat oil to 180C in a deep pot.
  3. 3 Fry slices in batches until golden and crispy.
  4. 4 Drain on paper towels immediately.
  5. 5 Sprinkle with salt, garlic powder, and chili flakes.
  6. 6 Squeeze lime juice over chips and serve.
