Plump Mauritanian dates split open and filled with soft white cheese, drizzled with honey and sprinkled with sesame seeds. This elegant sweet-savory combination is the perfect accompaniment to mint tea.

Ingredients

  • 24 large Medjool dates
  • 200g soft white cheese (cream cheese or fresh goat cheese)
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 2 tbsp toasted sesame seeds
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • Pinch of cardamom
  • Fresh mint leaves for garnish

Instructions

  1. 1 Carefully slit each date lengthwise and remove the pit, keeping the date intact.
  2. 2 Mix soft cheese with cinnamon and cardamom until smooth and well combined.
  3. 3 Fill each date with a generous teaspoon of the spiced cheese mixture.
  4. 4 Arrange stuffed dates on a serving platter in a single layer.
  5. 5 Drizzle honey over all the dates and sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds.
  6. 6 Garnish with fresh mint leaves and serve at room temperature with mint tea.
