A fresh, tangy salad of shredded banana blossom tossed with grated coconut, onion, chili, curry leaves, and lime juice, served as a side dish.
Ingredients
1 banana blossom, outer petals removed
1 cup grated fresh coconut
1 small onion, finely diced
1 green chili, minced
6 curry leaves, finely sliced
Juice of 2 limes
1 tsp salt
1 tsp sugar
Instructions
1Remove tough outer petals from the banana blossom. Quarter it and remove the small flowers inside each petal.
2Finely shred the tender inner petals. Soak in cold water with lime juice to prevent browning.
3Drain shredded blossom well and squeeze out excess water.
4Toss with grated coconut, onion, chili, curry leaves, lime juice, salt, and sugar.
5Mix well so the coconut and lime coat every strand of banana blossom evenly.
6Serve immediately as a refreshing side dish alongside rice and fish curry.
