Burnt Rice Water

A toasty, smoky beverage made by boiling water in the pot where rice has been cooked until a crust forms, producing a nutty, comforting drink.

Ingredients

  • Leftover rice crust from cooking pot
  • 500ml water

Instructions

  1. 1 After serving rice, leave the crusty layer stuck to the pot.
  2. 2 Add water to the pot with the rice crust.
  3. 3 Bring to a boil and simmer 5-10 min, scraping the crust gently.
  4. 4 Strain if desired, or serve with some rice bits.
  5. 5 Drink hot or at room temperature.
