The Story Behind Verwurelter
Verwurelter are Luxembourg's traditional Carnival pastry, fried during the festive Fuesend season that precedes Lent. The twisted shape symbolizes the tangled revelry of Carnival, and the rich dough with brandy reflects the indulgence permitted before the fasting period. Every family has its own recipe, passed down through generations of Luxembourgish home bakers.
