Lithuanian Dumplings

Small crescent-shaped dumplings filled with curd cheese and dill, boiled and dressed with melted butter and sour cream.

Ingredients

  • 300g all-purpose flour
  • 1 egg
  • 120ml warm water
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 350g fresh curd cheese
  • 2 tbsp fresh dill, chopped
  • 1 egg yolk
  • Salt and pepper
  • 50g butter, melted
  • Sour cream for serving

Instructions

  1. 1 Mix flour, egg, water, and salt into a smooth elastic dough. Knead 5 min, rest 20 min.
  2. 2 Combine curd cheese with dill, egg yolk, salt, and pepper for filling.
  3. 3 Roll dough thin, cut 7cm circles. Place a teaspoon of filling on each, fold into crescents, press edges firmly.
  4. 4 Boil in salted water for 3-4 min until they float and dough is tender.
  5. 5 Drain, toss with melted butter, and serve with sour cream.
