Ingredients

4 marinated herring fillets, diced

4 medium beets, boiled and grated

3 potatoes, boiled and grated

2 carrots, boiled and grated

3 hard-boiled eggs, grated

1 small onion, finely diced

300g sour cream

2 tbsp mayonnaise

Salt and white pepper

Spread diced herring as the bottom layer in a rectangular dish. Top with finely diced onion.

Layer grated potatoes over the herring, pressing gently. Spread a thin layer of sour cream mixed with mayonnaise.

Add a layer of grated carrots, then another thin sour cream layer.

Add grated eggs, then sour cream.

Top with grated beets, forming the final layer. Spread remaining sour cream mixture to coat completely.

Cover and refrigerate at least 4 hours or overnight. Garnish with dill before serving.
