Sweet, crispy fritters made from ripe mashed bananas mixed with flour and spices, deep-fried to golden perfection as a beloved Ivorian snack.

Ingredients

  • 4 very ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 egg
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

  1. 1 Mash ripe bananas in a bowl until smooth.
  2. 2 Add flour, egg, sugar, nutmeg, vanilla, and salt. Mix until a thick batter forms.
  3. 3 Heat oil to 170°C (340°F) in a deep pan.
  4. 4 Drop spoonfuls of batter into hot oil and fry until golden brown on all sides, about 3-4 minutes.
  5. 5 Drain on paper towels and serve warm.
