A fiery, refreshing ginger beverage sweetened with sugar and brightened with lime, served ice-cold as Guinea's favorite thirst quencher.

Ingredients

  • 300g fresh ginger, peeled
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 6 cups water
  • 3 limes, juiced
  • 1 pineapple slice (optional)
  • Pinch of nutmeg

Instructions

  1. 1 Blend ginger with 2 cups water until smooth.
  2. 2 Strain through a fine cloth or sieve into a pitcher, pressing to extract all juice.
  3. 3 Add remaining water, sugar, lime juice, and nutmeg. Stir until sugar dissolves.
  4. 4 Refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
  5. 5 Serve ice-cold with lime slices.
