Seasoned, golden-fried fish balls made from fresh catch blended with herbs, onion, and a hint of ginger — a beloved Guinean snack and appetizer.

Ingredients

  • 500g white fish fillets
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 onion, finely diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1-inch ginger, grated
  • 1 scotch bonnet pepper, minced
  • Fresh parsley, chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

  1. 1 Blend fish fillets until smooth but not a paste.
  2. 2 Mix with egg, breadcrumbs, onion, garlic, ginger, pepper, parsley, salt, and pepper.
  3. 3 Shape into small balls about 3cm in diameter.
  4. 4 Heat oil to 175°C and fry fish balls for 4-5 minutes until golden.
  5. 5 Drain on paper towels and serve hot with spicy dipping sauce.
