Ingredients
2 Grenadian cocoa sticks
4 cups milk or water
3 tbsp condensed milk
1 cinnamon stick
1 bay leaf
1 tsp freshly grated nutmeg
1 tsp vanilla extract
Sugar to taste
Instructions
1Grate cocoa sticks on the fine side of a grater into a bowl.
2Bring milk or water to a gentle simmer in a saucepan with the cinnamon stick and bay leaf.
3Add grated cocoa and whisk vigorously until fully dissolved and the liquid turns rich brown.
4Add condensed milk, nutmeg, and vanilla. Continue to simmer and whisk for five minutes.
5Remove bay leaf and cinnamon stick. Taste and adjust sweetness with sugar if desired.
6Pour into mugs and serve hot, topped with a light grating of fresh nutmeg.
