Ingredients

  • 600g fresh Baltic herring, cleaned and filleted
  • 100g rye flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 60g butter
  • Lemon wedges
  • Boiled potatoes for serving
  • Fresh dill
  • Sour cream

Instructions

  1. 1 Pat herring fillets dry with paper towels.
  2. 2 Mix rye flour with salt and pepper on a plate.
  3. 3 Dredge each fillet in seasoned flour, shaking off excess.
  4. 4 Heat butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat until foaming.
  5. 5 Fry herring fillets 2-3 min per side until golden and crispy.
  6. 6 Serve immediately with boiled potatoes, sour cream, fresh dill, and lemon wedges.
