Fluffy steamed buns filled with savory pork and vegetables or sweet red bean paste. A staple breakfast food across China with countless regional variations.

Ingredients

  • 500g all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon instant yeast
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 250ml warm water
  • 400g ground pork
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 200g napa cabbage chopped
  • 1 tablespoon ginger minced

Instructions

  1. 1 Mix flour, yeast, sugar, and water into a smooth dough, let rise one hour.
  2. 2 Mix pork with soy sauce, sesame oil, ginger, and squeezed cabbage.
  3. 3 Divide dough into pieces, roll into circles, fill with pork mixture.
  4. 4 Pleat the edges shut in a spiral pattern.
  5. 5 Steam over high heat for fifteen minutes until puffed and cooked through.
