Sweet, crispy fritters made from mashed ripe bananas mixed with flour and spices, deep-fried to golden perfection as a beloved Cameroonian street treat.

Ingredients

  • 4 very ripe bananas
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup water
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

  1. 1 Mash ripe bananas with a fork until smooth.
  2. 2 Mix in flour, sugar, nutmeg, cinnamon, and salt.
  3. 3 Add water gradually until the batter is thick but scoopable.
  4. 4 Heat oil to 170C (340F) in a deep pan.
  5. 5 Drop spoonfuls of batter into hot oil and fry until deep golden, about 3-4 minutes per side.
  6. 6 Drain on paper towels. Serve warm.
