Ingredients

  • 4 cups masa harina
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 cups shredded cooked chicken
  • 2 tbsp red recado paste
  • 1 large onion diced
  • 2 tomatoes diced
  • banana leaves for wrapping
  • salt to taste

Instructions

  1. 1 Mix masa harina with chicken broth, oil, and salt to form a smooth dough.
  2. 2 Season shredded chicken with recado, onion, and tomatoes.
  3. 3 Spread masa on banana leaf squares, add chicken filling, and fold into parcels.
  4. 4 Steam tamales for 1 hour until masa is firm and pulls away from the leaf.
