A warm, aromatic drink made from honey, spices, and herbal infusions — a traditional Belarusian beverage for cold evenings.

Ingredients

  • 4 tablespoons honey
  • 1 liter water
  • 4 cloves
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon dried ginger
  • 2 cardamom pods
  • Zest of 1 lemon

Instructions

  1. 1 Bring water to a boil in a saucepan.
  2. 2 Add all spices and lemon zest, reduce heat.
  3. 3 Simmer gently for 15 minutes to infuse.
  4. 4 Remove from heat, stir in honey until dissolved.
  5. 5 Strain through a fine sieve into mugs.
  6. 6 Serve warm.
