Roasted peanuts caramelized in sugar syrup until shatteringly crispy, shaped into bite-sized pieces. A beloved Angolan street snack and sweet treat.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups roasted peanuts, skins removed
  • 1.5 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. 1 Line a baking tray with oiled parchment paper.
  2. 2 Dissolve sugar in water over medium heat. Bring to a boil without stirring.
  3. 3 Cook until syrup reaches a deep amber color, about 8-10 minutes.
  4. 4 Quickly stir in peanuts, vanilla, and salt. Mix until all peanuts are coated.
  5. 5 Pour onto the prepared tray and spread quickly with a spoon.
  6. 6 Let cool completely until hardened. Break into bite-sized pieces.
